Let's keep it short.
Gunilla came from Germany in her twenties to study Design at the former Ealing Art School. She then went into Music Management/Booking Agent work which enabled her to indulge in her first and foremost passion: live music! She worked with Galliano, Gilles Peterson, The Afro Celts Sound System, Womack & Womack, Shaggy and Jamiroquai!
Tired of being the one behind the scenes Gunilla secretly attended a casting session and was chosen to appear next to Leonardo DiCaprio and Tilda Swinton in The Beach, which lead to other TV and cinema productions and work with Paul Whitehouse and the now more grown up cast of 'Skins' in 'Club le Monde'.
Motherhood provided a welcome break from life in the fast lane and brought her back to Design, this time with silver. Five years into training Gunilla won the Metalsmithing Category at the Victoria& Albert Museum and went to IJL with the PMC Studio as finalist.
Three years and many commissions and piecework later and Gunilla found it was time to design some more cutting edge contemporary jewellery that is intricate, intelligent, masterful and wearable - the DarkBird Collection. Introduced at New Designers 2010 it is already booked for 'The Birds' exhibition in the Sheffield Millenium Gallery in Sheffield for Spring 2011!
Gunilla lives in SW London and is a Licentiate of the Society of Designer Craftsmen and is mentored by no one less than Anoush Waddington!
